HR Strange But True

What ‘Superpower’ Would Help You Do Your Job Better?

Maybe as a kid you wanted to fly or see through walls like your favorite superhero/superheroine. But Kristin Piombino, editorial assistant at Ragan Communications, is asking readers to take a poll on what superpower would help them to do their job better.

Piombino gave these choices of superpowers for the poll:

  • The ability to freeze time
  • The ability to influence others’ moods
  • The ability to duplicate yourself
  • The ability to see the future
  • Other (share comments)

At SBT press time, the ability to see the future was ahead at 37 percent, even though 45 percent of respondents were over the age of 45. Next came the ability to duplicate yourself at 24 percent, with the ability to freeze time and “other” tied at 15 percent. Evidently respondents didn’t care what mood their colleagues were in.

Some comments under “other” were interesting and had some real workplace potential:

  • “Beaming up” to meetings
  • Omniscience
  • Telekinesis
  • Ability to read minds

Some comments that didn’t necessarily fit the description of “superpowers” include:

  • Narcolepsy
  • Instant gratification without the consequences

Take the poll yourself, and then view the results.
