What’s the most common holiday celebrated worldwide?
Survey says, New Year’s Day. Shown in infographic form on Mercer.com, ringing in the New Year was celebrated by 60 out of the 63 countries that were analyzed.
The second most common holiday was Independence Day/National Constitution day (59 countries), followed by Christmas (53 countries).
And, in a nod to employees worldwide, Labor Day/May Day made the top five list, with 51 countries celebrating it.
However, not all holidays are celebrated worldwide, or every year. Take, for example when certain Russian workers got a half day off—as well as instructional booklets—on the provincial (and literal) Family Contact Day to “create a patriot.”
