HR Strange But True

‘Somewhere, Out There’ Someone Is Holding a Job Interview

Sometimes job interviews happen in the most unlikely locations! A survey by OfficeTeam recently asked managers to recount the most unusual places they have heard of a job interview taking place.

Some of the most unusual indoor interviews were:

  •   In the bathroom
  •   In an elevator
  •   At the gym
  •   In the front lobby
  •   In a shopping center parking lot
  •   In the office kitchen
  •   At the library
  •   On a park bench in front of the office building

Some interviewers opted for a food or drink pairing:

  •   At a fast-food restaurant
  •   Inside the airport coffee shop
  •   At a bar
  •   In a mall food court
  •   At a donut shop
  •   In the cafeteria

Other interviews took place in the great outdoors:

  •   On a beach
  •   At a park
  •   On a golf course
  •   In a garden
  •   At a baseball stadium
  •   In a field

While still others happened on the move:

  •   On an airplane traveling from Los Angeles to Detroit
  •   In a car
  •   On a bus
  •   At an airport
  •   On a subway train

The telephone survey was taken by more than 600 senior managers at companies with 20 or more employees in the United States and Canada, and was developed by OfficeTeam, a staffing service specializing administrative professionals.
