More and more, we are seeing employees and managers who are engaged, but not energized. They’re loyal and they work hard—but they’re exhausted. They may be committed; but they lack passion, resilience, and excitement in their work.

Many of today’s leaders certainly have good intentions where their employees’ engagement levels are concerned. But in trying to manage engagement, the more disengaged their employees often become. In other words: the traditional management approach to employee engagement is not working.
