Bureau of Labor Statistics releases November 2010 Unemployment Numbers

Regional and state unemployment rates changed little from the previous month, reports the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The November 2010 data shows 22 states recording increased unemployment rates, while 15 report decreases, and 14 report no change.

The jobless rate nationwide decreased by 0.2 percent between October and November. However, the current rate of 9.8% is unimproved from the similar statistics reported this time last year.

Among regions, the West reported November’s highest unemployment rate at 10.9 percent, while the Northeast reported the lowest rate at 8.5 percent.

Among states, Nevada registered the highest unemployment rate at 14.3 percent. Other states with high unemployment included California, Michigan, and Florida. North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska all reported low rates under 5 percent.

The Regional and State Employment and Unemployment news release for December is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. (EST).
