Employee Happiness Study: Recognition and Rewards Programs Need Improvement

Stop the presses! Happy employees are more productive than unhappy employees. The good news is that according to a new national study we just completed, most employees are somewhat happy and engaged at work—but they’re not happy with their company rewards and recognition programs, which rank lowest of all work factors.

The Happiness Study: An Employee Rewards & Recognition Study examined the key components of employee happiness, and the role of rewards and recognition programs in that happiness. There were a number of surprising findings in the responses of 1,851 U.S. employees. First and foremost, rewards and recognition are not aligned with employee happiness. In fact, it’s not even close.
