Recommendations for Using AI: A Q&A with Emily He

Over the last few posts, we’ve chatted with Emily He, Senior Vice President of Oracle’s Human Capital Management Cloud Business Group.

In part one, we discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) is humanizing work for Human Resources (HR) professionals and employees, alike. In part two, we looked at how AI is helping to improve the HR space, especially in hiring and recruiting new workers. And in part three we looked at what to do with all the data your AI systems produce. Here is the remainder of our interview with Emily.
Recruiting Daily Advisor (RDA): Any final recommendations for companies that want to explore AI applications and their HR departments?
Emily He: I personally think that there’s never been a more exciting time to be in HR. With the increasing popularity of AI, I think HR has the opportunity to lead the charge in making work more human through revolutionizing their employee experience and really use that to lay the foundation for changing the customer experience.
I would like to encourage all HR professionals to study the technology trends that will impact the future of work, be a voice on behalf of the employees, push for that change in the workplace, and push for a better employee experience and faster adoption of technology.
The other thing is, there are many opportunities for us to start experimenting with AI. We’re using AI to change the employee experience. Identify a business problem that can be solved with AI—it could be recruiting, onboarding, HR help desk, or learning—and find a use case where there’s a strong need for AI and just start experimenting. There are lots of use cases where we can use AI, our HR professionals should just pick one and start experimenting and learn from that.
One of the things we’re doing at Oracle is to make it easy for HR professionals. For example, one of the things we’re creating right now is called “Best Fit Candidate,” which is an app that we are introducing to recruiters and HR professionals to allow them to analyze their existing employees and come up with the right criteria to evaluate candidates and apply that to the recruiting process.
The last thing I would say is, it’s important that you work with the right data partner and technology partner to implement AI. This is something that Oracle is really good at. We talk to our customers about AI all the time, so we’ve gathered a huge amount of learning and we’ll be happy to share with any HR organization that’s interested in toying with AI in the workplace.
