Flexible Schedules Are Great for Attracting Talent, but Only 44% of Employers Use This Strategy

When it comes to using benefits to attract talent, new research finds that the standard benefits offerings—health insurance, 401(k)s, paid time off, etc.—have become commonplace. So, according to the findings in a new Recruiting Daily Advisor survey report, more employers must turn to new, trendy benefits to attract talent.talent
Using data from this survey of over 500 recruiters, hiring managers, and HR professionals, the new report Recruiting in the Age of Record-Low Unemployment, explores the various strategies employers are using to attract and retain talent during a period of record-low unemployment. Specifically, this report highlights which recruiting strategies are most popular and how successful employers are at recruiting talent.
According to a majority of respondents, health insurance (92%), dental insurance (86%), paid time off (85%), life insurance (83%), and retirement savings/401(k) plans (81%) are the most standard benefits offered to attract talent.
“Since these benefits have become relatively expected among workers, it’s time for employers to branch out and start offering more unique benefits to attract talent,” says Melissa Blazejak, content specialist for Recruiting Daily Advisor—and author of the report. “However, our survey finds that new, ‘trendy’ benefits haven’t quite gained in popularity yet, as less than half of respondents use such benefits for talent attraction.”
A small sample of these unique benefits include:

  • Wellness programs (47%)
  • Tuition reimbursement (45%), and
  • Flexible schedules (44%).

“As more jobseekers continue to pursue employers that offer unique benefits, companies that aren’t currently offering what jobseekers want would be wise to take a look at their benefits packages to see what they can offer to stand out as a top employer of choice among the completion,” says Blazejak.
