As you eat your PB&J out of a sandwich bag, you may want to log onto Facebook to view what the workers at Facebook are dining on in their café—and salivate!
Yes, Mark and Sheryl have given their Culinary Team their own Facebook page where the day’s specials are posted—and, of course, the choices are fresh and healthy.
As we go to press, to start the employees’ day, the breakfast specials at the “Livin’ the Dream” café are whole wheat pecan and date scones, a strawberry-hibiscus shake with soy, yogurt, and agave, and a veggie scramble (egg whites, red bell peppers, red onions, broccoli, zucchini, asparagus, and spinach). And the fresh-squeezed juices at the Epic Café include breakfast pear, kale-apple, and “refreshing greens.” And then there is the waffle bar “with all the condiments.”
No stale bagels out of a vending machine for these employees! Just a variety of freshly baked breads.
The day’s luncheon specials at The Asian Line are pork siopao, vegetarian pot sticker, and steamed black bean pork ribs with jasmine rice. And what other employer offers Spanish oxtail stew (Rabo de Toro) or Italian bavette with onion marsal sauce?
In keeping with wellness, there are—gourmet—vegetarian offerings at each meal, such as potato croquetas with saffron aioli, vegan albondigas, and farro with Italian herbs.
To work off the calories, go to a fitness room or one of the walking trails on the immense Facebook campus.
Appreciative employees can thank their chefs on the Facebook page, which has over 62,000 “Likes.” Wonder why!
I’d like to see a cookoff between the food provided by Facebook and Google.
