Darlene Edgington worked for plumbing contractor C. Herb Berger Inc. in Santa Monica. According to Edgington, the company president Ricky Berger referred to her as “buffalo buns” and told her to perform sexual acts on another employee. And the vice president allegedly drew and circulated a nude sketch of Edgington. Plus, Edgington accused management of, among other things, allowing sexually explicit photos to be placed on her computer. Edgington quit and sued, claiming she was forced to resign due to sexual harassment. The company asserted that what happened was nothing more than friendly bantering in the workplace, and that any acts of harassment must have occurred while management was away from the office. A jury recently sided with Edgington and awarded her $551,000 in damages.
