Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has until Sept. 30 to sign or veto a number of measures approved recently by the legislature, including several relating to employment. Some of the contenders:
- A.B. 1825 would require employers to conduct sexual harassment training for supervisors.
- A.B. 2317 would boost damages awards and civil penalties for violations of California’s equal pay law.
- S.B. 1499 would prohibit employers from charging employees fees to cash their payroll checks.
- S.B. 1618 would permit employers to use only the last four digits of an employee’s Social Security number on the itemized wage statement.
