IBM Sued For Underpaying Computer Employees

Tech giant International
Business Machines Corp. (IBM) has been hit with a lawsuit accusing the company
of misclassifying thousands of systems administrators, network technicians, and
other technical support workers as exempt from overtime compensation. The suit,
filed in a San Francisco federal court by one
former and two current IBM employees, seeks class-action status and charges
that the classification errors violate federal, California,
and New York
wage and hour laws. According to the lawsuit, these employees are often
required to work up to 50 hours a week and through lunch breaks without
overtime pay.
