Tech giant International
Business Machines Corp. (IBM) has been hit with a lawsuit accusing the company
of misclassifying thousands of systems administrators, network technicians, and
other technical support workers as exempt from overtime compensation. The suit,
filed in a
former and two current IBM employees, seeks class-action status and charges
that the classification errors violate federal,
and
wage and hour laws. According to the lawsuit, these employees are often
required to work up to 50 hours a week and through lunch breaks without
overtime pay.
