McDonald’s Workers Get $1.45 Million For Breaks Violations

A Marin County
judge has given preliminary approval to a $1.45 million settlement resolving
wage and hour charges against a former McDonald’s franchise owner. The
settlement grew out of a class-action lawsuit filed in 2004 alleging that Magruder,
Inc., didn’t pay overtime and provide required meal and rest breaks to workers
in seven McDonald’s restaurants it owned in Marin County.
Approximately 990 current and former employees will share the settlement
proceeds. In resolving the case, Magruder admitted no wrongdoing.
