The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that, as of the end of May 2006, it already received enough H-1B visa petitions to meet and exceed the H-1B visa cap of 64,300 for the 2007 fiscal year (which begins on October 1, 2006). The final date to submit a petition for consideration was May 26, 2006. The USCIS says it will automatically reject any further H-1B petitions it receives for the 2007 fiscal year.
If you were planning on submitting an H-1B visa petition this year but didn’t get around to it, you’ll have to wait for the 2008 fiscal year. The first date that the USCIS will accept petitions for the 2008 fiscal year is April 1, 2007.
