Marriott Corp. has agreed
to pay $1.35 million to settle a class action lawsuit charging that the
hotelier violated
minimum wage ordinance at three Marriott hotels in the city. The lawsuit
alleges that approximately 100 food servers at the properties were not paid the
required city minimum wage and that the company did not post notices of
employee rights as the ordinance required. The ordinance, known as Proposition
L, requires employers to pay employees in
$9.14 per hour, well above the new
minimum wage of $7.50 per hour.
