DOL Recovers Almost $700K For Misclassified IT Workers




New Jersey-based
Quest Diagnostics Inc., a medical diagnostic testing firm, has agreed to pay
238

employees nationwide
a total of $688,772 in overtime back wages. The settlement stems from a U.S. Department
of Labor (DOL) investigation at the company’s Cambridge, Mass.,
site, which found that the employer had misclassified as exempt from overtime employees
working in client systems analyst and senior client systems analyst positions.
Further investigation revealed that the same misclassification problem existed
at Quest’s facilities elsewhere, including in California.
