You may feel as if you can’t get away from discussions and debates on health care reform. When you turn on the TV, browse the Internet, or listen to the radio, you may be inundated with the latest challenges, fights, and screaming matches over the subject.
Although health care reform has become one of the most heated subjects in the news right now, how much do you know about it? Do you know what everyone is fighting about? What do you need to know about it as an employer? Is there anywhere you can go to get unbiased information on health care reform?
Although it seems as if everyone has an opinion on health care reform, we have found are a few websites where you can get relatively unbiased information.
- FactCheck.Org. According to their website, FactCheck.Org is “a nonpartisan, nonprofit ‘consumer advocate’ for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics.” FactCheck.Org examines the factual accuracy of what major political figures say about different issues by monitoring statements they make in television advertisements, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases. - Kaiser Family Foundation. Kaiser’s website states that it “is a non-profit, private operating foundation focusing on the major health care issues facing the U.S., as well as the U.S. role in global health policy.” According to its website, Kaiser provides non-partisan”facts, information, and analysis for policymakers, the media, the health care community, and the public.” For Kaiser’s health care reform page, visit http://healthreform.kff.org/. The page attempts to explain the basics of health care reform and offers tools such as a side-by-side comparison of the major health care reform proposals and a glossary of key terms in health care reform.
- PBS’ Online NewsHour. This website provides a continuously updated field guide on health care reform’s key terms and players. The field guide is located at http://www.pbs.org/newshour/interactive/health/guide/.
