It’s been almost a year since the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) proposed a new rule to add flexibility for employers and employees to California’s meal period requirements. The rule, which has gone through several versions, still isn’t final.
So what’s the status? The DLSE says that it received a high volume of public comments on the latest meal period proposal, and that it is still in the process of reviewing the comments. And, according to the agency, it’s too early to say whether the proposal will need to be revised yet again. The DLSE has promised to provide periodic updates on its website on the status of the meal period rule–and we’ll keep you posted.
