The New Employee Registry was established to help identify individuals who fail to pay child support; their children often end up on state assistance rolls.

All employers must report the name, address, and Social Security Number of each new employee (and rehired employee) to the registry within 20 days of the date of hire. Note that some payroll processing services do this reporting for you, so double-check with them.
