FEHC Back to Work on A.B. 1825 Regulation

For over a year now, the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission (FEHC) has been drafting regulations to implement California’s sexual harassment training law, A.B. 1825. In December, the FEHC finally submitted the draft regulations to the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) for approval, and it looked like the regulations might take effect this month.

But on Jan. 30, 2007, the OAL notified the FEHC that it wants changes to several of the definitions in the regulations, including the definition of “subject matter expert.” The current version of the rules require that subject matter experts—who may provide training program content and conduct training—have “legal education coupled with practical experience, or substantial practical experience in training in harassment, discrimination and retaliation prevention.”

Join us this fall in San Francisco for the California Employment Law Update conference, a 3-day event that will teach you everything you need to know about new laws and regulations, and your compliance obligations, for the year ahead—it’s one-stop shopping at its best.

The FEHC will hold a public meeting on Feb. 27, 2007, to consider the changes requested by the OAL. For more information, go to the FEHC website.
