The HR Certification Institute has launched two new credentials—The Human Resource Business Professional (HRBP) and Human Resource Management Professional (HRMP)—both of which are geared toward HR professionals principally practicing outside of the United States.

The credentials were developed to validate core HR knowledge and skills in addition to demonstrated mastery of generally accepted HR principles, independent of geographic region.

In May, HRCI successfully conducted pilot examinations for these new certifications in nearly 70 locations across 50 countries. On the basis of the pilot program, 573 of the new credential were awarded.

The HRMP is considered  a more strategic credential, while the HRBP is more operational in thrust. (HR practitioners outside the United States may still apply for existing credentials such as the SPHR and PHR if they so desire.)

Check the HRCI’s website at www.hrci.org for more details on the new credentials.

  1. Hello,

I graduated this past December and have a year of entry level HR experience.
I would love to apply for the PHR exam, however I might need more experience.
I also just noticed there is a new exam called HRBP.
Can someone help me choose between PHR vs. HRBP?
