CBS has agreed to pay $8 million to settle a gender discrimination class action lawsuit brought by the EEOC. More than 200 women technicians working at CBS television stations across the country, including about 50 employees at KCBS in Los Angeles who will share in the settlement, claimed they were discriminated against and passed over for promotions and special assignments. As part of the settlement, the network will also make operational changes designed to open up more opportunities to women technicians. CBS has denied that any discrimination occurred and cited the cost of the lengthy lawsuit in its decision to settle the case.
