Employment Law Tip: Firm Up and Slim Down Your Workforce

In light of new evidence that overweight workers are costing U.S. businesses more, many employers may find new motivation to help their workers stay healthy and fit. If you’re not sure where to start or how to get a workplace wellness program up and running, consider the California 5 a Day—Be Active! Worksite Program, developed by the California Department of Health Services. The free program contains a comprehensive online toolkit that employers of any size can use to launch a wellness program.

A key component of the program is Take Action!, which is a flexible, 10-week employee wellness program that encourages eating more fruits and vegetables and engaging in regular physical activity while fostering teamwork and boosting morale.

You can learn more about the 5 a Day program and The Take Action! component online.

Join us this fall in San Francisco for the California Employment Law Update conference, a 3-day event that will teach you everything you need to know about new laws and regulations, and your compliance obligations, for the year ahead—it’s one-stop shopping at its best.
