Double the Donation, a website with the mission to “help nonprofit organizations and schools increase fund-raising from corporate matching gift and employee volunteer grant programs,” recently featured 10 companies that triple—or even quadruple—employee donations.
Here are a few interesting employee matching programs from the list:
Time of the year—Tiffany & Co.’s matching gift ratio varies based on the time of the year. The company always doubles donations, but at certain times during the year, the company increases the matching gift ratio.
Time equals money—PepsiCo provides a higher matching gift ratio to employees and retirees who volunteer with an organization. While all employee and retiree donations are doubled, if an employee volunteers for more than 50 hours in a year, the donation is tripled.
Put your money where your products are—IBM offers the traditional cash match; however, it encourages nonprofits to receive its products instead of money. Current employees’ donations are doubled if the nonprofit chooses to receive a cash grant, but IBM triples the donation if the nonprofit elects to receive IBM equipment.
