So many life lessons can be learned from watching Seinfeld, even though the show was about nothing! While this invention isn’t really a life lesson, it is definitely something ripped right from the plot line of “The Nap” episode!

If you’re unfamiliar with Seinfeld, or don’t have the capability to watch the linked up clip, “The Nap” episode focuses on George’s inability to sleep at work. George has to enlist the help of Jerry’s contractor to help him build a bed under his desk so that he can take naps. George is eventually able to take a nap in his new “desk bed,” but all chaos ensues shortly after he tucks himself in.
Behold the “nap desk,” a desk that comes with its own built-in nap area underneath. The nap desk works by sliding the top of the desk over (for a little extra headroom), flipping the back down (to turn it into a mattress), and leaning back the side to support a pillow. The inventor, Athanasia Leivaditou, thought of the concept after watching classmates push chairs together in order to have a power nap.
Leivaditou says, “I understand that being comfortable enough to sleep at work (even for a few minutes) means that someone must go against strong stereotypes,” but “[t]here are cases—for example businesses that you have to be there for a lot of hours—where this desk just attempts to ‘replace’ in a very basic level the environment of our homes.”
So whether you’re burning the midnight oil or just looking to “rest your eyes,” the nap desk may be your solution.
