While it’s clear that retirement for professional football players isn’t the same as for the average person, there may be lessons for everyone in what happens with many of those athletes when they unsnap the chin strap for the last time.
And it’s something of a cautionary tale.
Despite those multi-million-dollar contracts, many professional football players don’t fare that well financially once their playing days are over. A study last year revealed that 16% are bankrupt within 12 years of retiring.
