On Monday, November 14, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published a revised version of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
Employers can start using the new Form I-9 immediately, however, the USCIS also is allowing employers to continue to use the previous version of the I-9 Form (dated 03/08/2013 N) until January 22, 2017. After that date, the previous version will no longer be allowed.
The new Form I-9 contains numerous changes, including a new revision date (11/14/2016 N) and expiration date (08/31/2019), separate instructions, and the ability to enter multiple preparers and translators to the form.
