Looking for top talent? Forget about perks and benefits, you may want to check out your workplace restrooms!
A recent survey suggests that most American workers (83 percent) believe the condition of a workplace restroom is one indicator of how a company values its workforce.
Thankfully, 66 percent of employees rate their workplace restroom as excellent or very good. However, approximately one-third report they’ve experienced a range of annoying issues.
The top three restroom complaints were:
- Clogged or not flushed toilets;
- Foul smells; and
- Empty or jammed toilet paper/towel dispensers.
The findings are part of the fourth annual Healthy Handwashing Survey conducted by Bradley Corporation, a manufacturer of commercial hand-washing products.
The survey also reported on hand-washing habits in the workplace. Eleven percent of workers say they frequently see people leave the restroom without washing their hands.
In addition, the survey revealed that the majority of Americans aren’t washing their hands long enough, with 57 percent of survey respondents estimating that they wash for just 5 to 15 seconds. Looks like those hand-washing bracelets we wrote about may be needed in more industries than health care!
