Is your public restroom the company’s pride or something you wish you could hide? A contest is asking people to vote for their favorite “remarkable washroom” worthy of consideration to win the coveted title of America’s Best Restroom®.
This is the 14th year the contest has been held, and the winner not only receives national media exposure for its company but also a prize of $2,500 in Cintas restroom services and supplies to keep the winning washroom in regal shape during its reign.
Cintas, creator of the contest, “is on a mission to locate America’s porcelain pioneers who are taking dramatic steps to create unforgettable facilities,” says a contest press release. The company encouraged entries of “unique, impressive restrooms that are elegant, eclectic, or downright quirky. As long as it’s immaculate, inviting, and, most of all, memorable, it’s fair game,” according to the release.
And why public restrooms? Cintas maintains that public restrooms matter because they are important to visitors and clients, and they reflect on a company’s commitment to great customer service. John Engel, Cintas’ senior marketing manager, says, “[t]he contest also promotes the importance of hygiene and salutes businesses which strive for restroom excellence in both function and design.”
There are separate contests for the United States and Canada. Voting is open on the contest website, which takes visitors on a photographic tour of each nominee and encourages them to choose their favorite. Voters can also see the nominees on Facebook. All of these restrooms certainly have the “wow” factor for public facilities, and are all different and impressive. So while your company might be a great place to work, you might be a bit disappointed the next time you take a look at the public restroom at your workplace.
