Children’s Hospital Pays $2.7 Million in Meal Break Settlement






The California
labor commissioner has distributed checks to current and former employees of
Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego,
following a $2.7 million settlement of claims that the hospital failed to pay employees
for missed second meal breaks during work shifts. Under California law, nonexempt employees are
entitled to a first meal break after five hours of work and a second meal break
after 10 hours.
