L.A. Retailer To Pay $158,000 In Back Wages And Penalties






Los Angeles-based
clothing retailer Ken Mart has agreed to pay $122,425 in back wages plus
$35,420 in penalties following a DOL investigation. The proceeds will be shared
by 161 employees who worked as salesclerks, cashiers, and stockers in 12 stores
the company owned in Los Angeles, Pomona, Colton, El Monte, Palmdale, Lancaster,
Huntington Park, Hesperia, and Ontario. The DOL charged that the retailer fabricated
records to avoid paying overtime.
