BMW Agrees To Tune Up Overtime Practices






Luxury automaker BMW has
agreed to pay almost $630,000 in back overtime to settle a U.S. Department of
Labor lawsuit alleging the company violated the FLSA by failing to pay auto
body and paint shop workers for time spent donning and doffing required safety gear
and time spent walking to and from workstations. The settlement will be shared
by 1,224 workers at the company’s Spartanburg,
South Carolina
, plant. As part of
the settlement, BMW has also agreed to comply with the FLSA’s overtime rules in
the future.
