Resort Hit With Lawsuit Over Withholding Practice






Grand Traverse Resort
& Spa in Michigan
has been slapped with a class action lawsuit charging that the company violated
state and federal wage and hour law by making improper deductions from employee
paychecks. The employees allege that the resort withheld $150 per week from
their paychecks for six years to fund the resort’s marketing endeavors. The
practice stopped in 2006. Depending on the outcome of the case, Grand Traverse
could be liable for more than $1 million in back pay and damages.
