Federal Minimum wage Increases Next Month

On July 24, the
federal minimum wage will rise to $6.55 per hour (from $5.85 currently) in the
second of three planned increases. In July of next year, the rate will jump to
$7.25 per hour. Employers must keep in mind that the state minimum wage remains
higher for employees working in California,
currently at $8 per hour. And some cities, such as San Francisco (now $9.36 per hour), require
even higher minimum wage rates.
