Healthcare: Confusion Over Grandfather Provision and Dependents?

A longtime customer just asked us to clarify the rule on dependents up to age 26 under the new healthcare law. I thought our response might be helpful to others, too:

The rule is that while all
plans (both grandfathered and not) must cover dependents up to age 26, a
grandfathered plan is not required to provide coverage if the child is eligible
for coverage under another employer-sponsored health plan. This exception
expires with the first plan renewal beginning on or after January 1, 2014.

We’ve got a webinar on the new healthcare changes–specifically for California employers–scheduled for Dec. 6. Registration info coming shortly…stay tuned here at CED for all the details.
