Yes, England’s Queen Elizabeth II was finally giving up some of her major duties, such as opening Parliament, to her son and CEO-in-waiting, Charles, the Prince of Wales. Charles has been keeping busy pursuing his “encore careers,” including advocating for the environment and traveling to visit U.K. countries.
But the prince just had his 65th birthday this month and is now eligible for an “old age” or “statutory entitlement” pension. The pension is from his time spent in the British Navy in the 1970s and is being estimated at around $188 per week (U.S.), since he only contributed to it for 5 years.
That’s probably not enough to keep Camille, Duchess of Cornwall, in fascinators, so the prince is donating his pension to a charity that helps senior citizens. No word if the Duchess, age 66, qualifies for a pension.
