Social Media Heavyweights Land Top Spots on 2014 ‘Best Companies to Work For’ List

HR Strange But True
by Elaine Quayle

Glassdoor has announced the results of its annual Employees’ Choice Awards, releasing its lists of Best Places to Work in 2014. According to the site, winners were determined by the people who know these companies best—their employees. Not surprisingly, three social media heavyweights were in the top five.

Facebook, which was number 1 last year, landed in 5th place, with 93 percent of employees recommending the company to a friend. Furthermore, 97 percent approve of the CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. The company scored its highest marks in the Culture and Values category.

LinkedIn ranked 3rd. Similar to Facebook, Culture and Values had the highest ranking, followed by Career Opportunities. LinkedIn rose from its number 14 spot in last year’s list.

Twitter, which was not included in the list last year, had the highest placing of the social media group, flying in at number 2, just below Bain and Company, a consulting firm.

I can’t help but wondering if any of these three companies are profitable yet.
