Emergencies: Resources for Businesses Affected by Wildfires

Governor Schwarzenegger has announced a support network for small businesses impacted by the recent Southern California fires, to help these businesses recover as quickly as possible.

In particular, the governor has directed the Employment Development Department to extend payroll tax deadlines by up to 60 days for small businesses hit hardest by the wildfires. The governor also signed an executive order to suspend the one-week waiting period for unemployment insurance, waive fees and assist in the replacement of vital documents, and expedite the cleanup process. In addition, Gov. Schwarzenegger has directed the Small Business Disaster Loan Guarantee program to be activated, guaranteeing $7 million in loans for businesses that suffered fire-related losses.
