New Health Savings Account Limits for 2009

Based on the cost of
living, the IRS has increased for 2009 the maximum contribution levels for
health savings accounts (HSAs) and out-of-pocket spending limits for high-deductible
health plans (HDHPs) that must be used in conjunction with HSAs. For 2009, the
maximum annual HSA contribution for individuals is $3,000 and $5,950 for
families. Catch-up contributions for workers age 55 or older will be $1,000.
For HDHPs, the maximum annual out-of-pocket amounts for individual coverage
will be $5,800, and $11,600 for families; the minimum deductible will rise to
$1,150 for self-only coverage and $2,300 for family coverage. For full
