Colleague Connections: Face-to-Face Trumps Phone

Intraoffice communication is an important part of any work environment. However, while the need may be constant, the type of communication is not equally favored. There appears to be slight generational preferences on how to reach out to colleagues.

Not surprisingly, slightly more workers aged 25–34 prefer e-mail/text (35 percent) than workers aged 55 and up (28 percent).

However, according to a new CareerBuilder survey, most agree that face-to-face communication is their communication of choice [60 percent (aged 55+); 55 percent (aged 25–34)].

One other note: You may want to think twice before picking up the phone. Both age groups ranked the phone as their least favorite means of communication [12 percent (aged 55+); 10 percent (aged 25–34)].
