Radio Show Features Discussion with BLR’s Patricia Trainor on Presidential Election’s Impact on HR Issues

Where do Barack Obama and Mitt Romney stand on employment law and HR issues?

Patricia Trainor, BLR’s Senior Managing Editor, Human Resources, was the featured guest on the November 1 broadcast of “The Proactive Employer” –a radio show hosted by Stephanie Thomas that features one-on-one discussions with leading policymakers and thought leaders—on how the presidential election outcome could impact employers and HR professionals.

During the show, Patricia and Stephanie had a detailed discussion on where the presidential candidates stand on employment law issues. Specific topics of interest to human resources professionals that Patricia and Stephanie discussed include:

  • pending ’right to know’regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regarding employee classification
  • affirmative action and OFCCP activity
  • the Paycheck Fairness Act
  • and the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) reach regarding issues such as social media policies and employee handbooks.

The show, which aired on the Proactive Employer website was selected for feature the same day on the home page of BlogTalkRadio the largest online talk radio network with millions of listeners.

Patricia Trainor JD, SPHR is Senior Managing Editor of BLR’s human resources and employment law publications. Ms. Trainor has several years of experience representing employers and school districts in labor and employment matters. Since 1999, she has provided consulting services to Fortune 500 companies, privately held businesses, major law firms and government agencies such as the Department of Justice and the FBI. She has testified as an economic and statistical expert in federal and state courts throughout the United States.

  1. Seems like the DOL (particularly the WHD) has really beefed up under Obama. Hard to imagine that continuing under Romney.
