HR Strange But True

Pizza Hut Speed Interviews for New ‘Manager of Digital Greatness’

As a way of redefining the art of interviewing, Pizza Hut will experiment with a new concept in its search for the “Manager of Digital Greatness” by giving candidates 140 seconds to sell themselves for the position. How appropriate—and Twitterish!

The interview technique, which will debut at the Interactive Festival this week in Austin, Texas, “is an ode to the often forgotten elevator speech, which requires clear, concise communication when presenting an idea in a limited amount of time. The speed interview also connects with today’s digital age, where conversations constantly unfold in real time through 140-character Tweets,” according to a press release.

“For the Manager of Digital Greatness [MDG]  position, we know the interactive festival in Austin is one of the largest gatherings of talented individuals in the digital space—and one we consider a target-rich environment for finding our next team member,” said Caroline Masullo, director, Digital and Social Media.

The MDG will be responsible for guiding the digital team as it engages with the Pizza Hut fan base. The winning candidate “must be a true social media maven, staying on top of digital trends and executing new ways to make Pizza Hut the undisputed champ within the digital space.”

Of course, the MDG will be responsible for the Twitter account, as well as extremely active corporate accounts on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube, among other platforms.

Basic requirements for the position include a bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of experience in digital advertising, marketing or a related field and a proven track record for managing teams and driving complex projects.
