A few weeks ago, we reported on a recent survey that collected real-life excuses employees used for being late. Employers beware of employees indulging in Thanksgiving leftovers; one worker blamed his tardiness on the turkey. (He was sleepy after eating it!)
We asked our readers to share the strangest excuses they’ve heard for being late to work. Here are a few submissions:
- Employee had an “eye problem.” Just couldn’t see coming in that day!
- Employee said the mirror fell on him while he was shaving and so he came in late that day. Not sure how that was recorded!
- Employee stayed up late watching a comet and slept through the alarm.
- Employee was attacked by a bee that flew into the car.
