HR Strange But True

Employees Can Multitask on a Mutant Mobile Device

Employees love to multitask, and now a new high-tech hybrid will help them take it to a new level.

Do you ask employees to go outside on breaks to make personal calls on cell phones?  Do you ask them to go outside to smoke?  Now they can do both and still have a hand free to do something else. Ping pong, anyone?

A new Dutch company has invented an e-cigarette that is also a wireless Bluetooth mobile device.  Cleverly named the Supersmoker®, it allows workers to smoke and listen to or make phone calls at the same time.  The speaker is in the e-cigarette barrel.

It can access mobile tablets and even stream music to relax the worker during the break.  And all control buttons can be accessed with one hand.

If you can’t visualize how this contraption works, see the demo video on www.androidpolice.com.

  1. Of course, a device like this could also have wage and hour implications–if the employee takes or makes work calls on the smoking break.
