HR Strange But True

‘Wearable Technology’ Camera Helps Employees ‘Remember’

You don’t want employees to have their heads in the clouds, but you may want them to record “visual memories” through a new wearable technology device that will store them in “the cloud.”

According to GeekyGadgets.com, a new company has developed a lightweight camera, resembling a Bluetooth phone that clips to a person’s ear and hooks around the head, to record video from the person’s actual visual point of view. The camera then sends the “memory” to the cloud, where it can be retrieved when needed.

So a worker could record workplace duties such as a new assembly task or how a machine should be adjusted or operated, exactly the way it appeared to them when they were trained on the procedure and then “recall” the process from the cloud.

Interestingly, workers could also record what their other wearable technologies, such as wellness monitor bands or smart watches, are displaying. And the camera can also send live footage to other mobile devices or PCs via Wi-Fi.

Yes, we are sure you are already thinking how workers could abuse this device and end up in HR. The good news is you can use it record yourself composing the new policy on its use!
