The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that Dec. 26, 2007, is the deadline for employers to begin using the revised Form I-9, which was released several weeks ago. This is the form that all employers must complete for new hires to verify eligibility to work in the United States. As of Dec. 26, the new form is the only version that will be acceptable for use.
Employers should take note that the new I-9 Form has a revision date (in the lower right corner) of 06/05/07. Be sure to toss out all versions with older revision dates.
