You want your workers to get a good night’s sleep so they will be productive. But, have you ever considered where they sleep to be important? A new study says it might be important!
A study of 1,000 people by mattress manufacturer Sealy UK found that it’s not just which side of the bed someone gets up from that predicts a good day but also which side of the bed they sleep on.
The study contrasted the impact of getting out of bed on the left or right side against factors such as mood, success, and world outlook. The study was commissioned to help Sealy UK better understand the factors that can contribute to becoming a “deeper sleeper.”
According to a press release, the research reveals left-side sleepers are more likely to be in a good mood each day, have more friends, and love their job!
Conversely, right-hand sleepers are more likely to dislike their job, start the day in a bad mood, be pessimistic, and keep to themselves.
And what about people who have a sleeping companion and must share a bed? Yes, they could alternate sides or sleep in different directions. But, a previous study by Sealy UK found that 36% of respondents who are part of cohabitating couples found the solution to be regularly sleeping in separate beds during the workweek. And, 10% of respondents reported doing so all the time.
