Recruiting is a key skill that can benefit from new technologies, such as social media, as much as any other professional skill. IF you learn how to use the technology effectively. In today’s Advisor, we get expert answers to a few frequently asked questions (FAQs) on this current topic.
The reality facing more and more hiring managers is that you have to do more with less. Social media tools like LinkedIn, Google+, and Twitter offer a savvy recruiter the opportunity to find and onboard candidates quickly and inexpensively … but only if you know what each tool can do, what it can’t and, more importantly, how to develop a genuine network for your company and brand.
Kelly Dingee, of Staffing Advisors, has supplied some FAQs—and answers—to this HR topic.
Question (Q): The hiring economy is truly starting to rebound. Leading a sourcing team, where are you investing your budget?
Answer (A): Automation. We take a look at what tasks are easy to automate and save us hours on work. It means taking the time to do calls with our vendors to sort out customization options and it also means sitting through a lot of demos.
Q: Is Boolean search still relevant?
A: Absolutely. It’s important to understand that every search engine and database (like your ATS) has different “rules” and operators to accomplish certain tasks. Fortunately, today there are a lot of sites that can help you craft Boolean search strings like Social Talent’s Boolean Generator.
