If you knew of a benefit that half of your workforce wants, and which they say would boost their productivity, would you embrace it? The results of a new survey show that telecommuting is the benefit half of workers want so much that some are willing to take a pay cut to get it. However, employers may be slow to buy into this concept.
Out of the 2,600 respondents to a new FlexJobs survey, half (50%) reported that their home—and not the office—is their location of choice to be most productive on important work-related projects. Another 12% said they would choose a coffee shop, coworking space, library, or other place besides the office, and 14% would choose the office, but only outside standard hours. This leaves less than a quarter who prefer the actual office during regular working hours as a place to complete important work.
