Ask the Expert: Which States Are Raising Minimum Wages in 2016?

First, for minimum wage changes, this interactive map and the accompanying article details all of the minimum wage changes that have and will take effect in 2016.

In addition, at the bottom of that page there is also a link to a regularly-updated minimum wage chart on HR.BLR.com that also details several changes to local/municipal laws. You may wish to download this chart for future reference and bookmark the link to it, as it is continually updated as additional wage changes are announced.

With regard to exempt employees, because most states adopt the federal minimums for exempt salaries, minimum wage increases will not affect exempt salary levels in most states. However, some states, such as California, do raise the salary minimums for exempt employees in concert with increases to minimum increases for non-exempt employees.
